The 7-day safari will explore all the three national parks in Rwanda. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Akagera national park which is the country’s only savanna game park with a variety of wildlife and big game. The park is home to the big 5 after the recent introduction of Rhinos and lions. From Akagera, it takes you to the home of mountain gorillas (Volcanoes National park) where you will encounter the community of the people who used to stay in the forest and ex-poachers. Then to the deep forests of Nyungwe for chimpanzee tracking and enjoying the scenery of the park walking on a canopy walkway that was built on treetops. It will end with a short city tour in Kigali to the genocide memorial before departure.

Day 1 Arrival, pick up and transfer to Akagera National park
Upon your arrival at Kigali airport, our company representative or driver / guide will be waiting to welcome you and later transfer you to Akagera National park about 2hrs 30mns. You will do a short game drive to L. Ihema circuit and after check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will go for game drive to catchup with the early risers. The park is now home to the big 5 with the recent introduction of Lions and Rhinos that added to the leopard, elephants and buffaloes. We shall do a half day game drive and after return back to the lodge for a small relaxation and lunch.
After lunch, you will go for a boat ride on Lake Ihema which will offer you with views of the surrounding areas, hills and swamps. Expect to see Hippos, crocodiles and more bird species. Return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay

Day 3 Transfer to Volcanoes national park and do a cultural walk in the afternoon
Wake up and have breakfast, then drive to Volcanoes National Park. Volcanoes national park is known as a haven for mountain Gorillas and is home to five of the Volcanoes that make the Virunga ranges. The park was base for Zoologist Diane Forsey. On arrival check in at your lodge for refreshment and lunch.
After lunch do a walk through nearby forests to nearby crater lakes for scenic viewing, bird watching and photography of the volcanoes.

Day 4 Gorilla tracking
Have early morning breakfast, carry your packed lunch, and go for briefing at the park headquarters after which you will set off for the gorilla trekking. The ranger guides will lead you deep into the forest in search for the mountain Gorillas moving across the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that you will immensely enjoy viewing and photographing for about 1 hour.
The activity in Rwanda can take 3-5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and the gorilla group you are tracking. This is a once in a life time adventure and coming up-close with the mountain gorillas is an awesome and exciting moment. (Some physical fitness is required and you can request for a favorable gorilla group depending on your fitness)
Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.

Day 5 Transfer to Nyungwe national park
After your morning breakfast, you will transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way you will visit the new Visitor’s Interpretive Centre to give you more information about the park such as number of primate species found in the park, types of bird species and other tourist activities carried out with in the Park. Check at your Hotel for Lunch.
In the afternoon, you can go for Colobus Monkey trekking (Optional). You will have to hike through lush forests and endless green tea fields while taking the stunning views of the surroundings.

Day 6 Chimpanzee tracking
Have an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters in Nyungwe forest for briefing before going for chimpanzee tracking. It is advisable to carry packed lunch and plenty of water prior to this tracking since it can sometimes last over 6 hours. In the forest, you will not only see chimpanzees to but also variety of animals and birds like the Rwenzori Turaco, Black and white casqued horn bill, colobus monkeys,
Return late in the afternoon have lunch and after do a canopy walk that will give you a chance to have an aerial view of the park.

Day 7 Transfer to the airport for Departure
Wake up early in the morning have breakfast and your driver guide will transfer you to the airport for your scheduled flight.

Best time to go
The best wildlife viewing months in Uganda are during the Dry seasons from June to August and December to February. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Rwanda.
