The four-day safari takes you to Kibale forest National park dubbed “the primate capital of the world”. Kibale National Park has one of the most stunning and varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda interspersed with patches of grassland and swamp that dominates the northern and central parts of the park. The park is famous for chimpanzees plus the other 13 primates. It is also one of the important birding areas in Uganda. You will have a chance to encounter the beauty of the craters that pock the region.

Day 1- Airport pick up

You arrive at Entebbe International Airport and a representative from Milele Safaris Uganda will meet you and drive you to your lodge. He will brief you about the tour and feel free to ask questions about Uganda along the way.

Day 2- Transfer to Kibale National park and equator experience

Wake up early, have breakfast. At 7.00am we start off the journey to “the primate capital of the world”. Using the Kampala- Masaka high way and have a stopover at the equator. Here you will a photo moment and also get to encounter the experiments which prove that you are at the centre of the world. There after drive through the Ankole-Masaka dry corridor to Mbarara where we shall have lunch. Via Mbarara, Ibanda and Kamwenge we get to Fort portal. Check in at your lodge and have a relaxed evening to photograph the beautiful landscape and craters that pock the area.

Day 3- Chimpanzee tracking and  Bigodi wetland walk

Wake up early, have breakfast and drive to Kibale Forest National Park visitors’ center at Kanyanchu for a pre- chimpanzee tracking briefing.

At 8.00 am, enter the forest to track the chimpanzees and other primates. You will have a picnic lunch in the forest. The Park is famous for Chimpanzee tracking. With 13 primate species, Kibale National Park is known is the Primates Capital of the world.   The park hosts about 1500 chimpanzees out of the 5000 recorded in the country and has 375 and 250 bird and butterfly species respectively in addition to 70 mammal species.

After tracking, you drive to the nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a nature walk and community visit. There is a craft center manned by the local women group.

After the community tour, you return to Kyaninga or to Primates Lodge.

Day 4- Return to Kampala

After an early breakfast, have a half day cultural tour to visit the Tooro Kingdom palace, Karambi Royal tombs and “amabeere ganyina mwiru”. From there have lunch and return to Kampala for your departure preparations.

This will mark the end of the Four day tour

Best time to go

The best wildlife viewing months in Uganda are during the Dry seasons from June to August and December to February. Primate walks in the forest are a big part of any safari in Rwanda.

The habitat of rain forests is, by default, very wet, and one can’t avoid rain completely.
